One of the newest pieces merging to Daruma and Lotus Series. Copper Pond Daruma would be the parent Daruma from the previous generation.
I have been developing my own contemporary and more inclusive version of this traditional symbol and I’m very excited to announce that we are in the Bootie Era. Most of my free standing figures now feature a curvaceous behind. It all started when I was making my Namidarumas and I wanted a visually simple but attractive way to sculpt the back side of these figures. Once I created my first booty I realized the level of joy that detail adds to the overall experience of my sculpture.
This piece is one of the more intricate Darumas. The face was made using my original Mask Technique using both hot and cold sculpting techniques. And then the lotus flower, bud, lily pad, and dewdrops were also prepared separately.
