Belly Button Series

If you look at the bottom of most hand made glass cups, you’ll see a dimple in the center where the cup was detached from the maker's umbilical rod, aka, punty. This series is a celebration of the birth of each glass piece by centering and displaying this mark. 

Unfortunately in the glass community there’s a lot of judgment around this dimple. So many makers are embarrassed of their creations because of their mark and as a result hide their work. I want to remove the same of any glass belly button, especially the taboo outies. 

With all of my work I want to bring love and healing to my communities and my audience. Light is captured and reflected with these silver mirrors. I designed these for a moment of introspection and to reexamine the world around you. 

This series showcases a collection of belly buttons contributed by members of the glass art community with a variety of backgrounds and experience.
