Blown and hot cast glass
10 x 5 x 8 in (25.5 x 11.5 x 20 cm)
This is one of the only pieces ever created combining hot casting and blown glass techniques. Hot casting is when molten glass is scooped and ladled. Blown glass is inflating molten glass on the end of a metal pipe. There were also glass inclusions incorporated into the hot cast component of the sculpture.
8 experienced glass artists worked were orchestrated through a series of tight choreography in order to assemble this piece. This piece is a one of a kind and can not be recreated.

Part of the reason why this piece is highly valued is because of the significant artistic milestone this piece represents. I don’t want to let it go if letting it go doesn’t afford me the opportunity to have a similar break through in my creative process. This price would allow me to revisit the techniques and concepts captured in this piece.
To rent out a glass studio for a hot casting (ladling molten glass) it would cost about $6,000. There is a lot of preparation prior to the casting event, and a lot of editing and finishing that will take place after. Even the smallest sculpture takes about 3 months to complete. The remaining budget would be invested in videography of the process, cold working (grinding and polishing glass), and the cost of living and creating in San Francisco.
Buying my work not only helps an independent artist like myself, but also the entire community of glass artists in the SF Bay Area. Majority of the money I receive will be invested back into studio access as well as hiring and training new members of the community.
