Silver and hot sculpted glass

6 x 7.25 x 5.25 in (15 x 18.5 x 13.5 cm)
Namida, meaning tears, was combined with Daruma creating an endearing name for this sad boi.
Embracing the fluidity of molten glass, these pieces capture the feeling of deep frustration that comes with existential crisis and choice paralysis. Struggle is a huge element of Daruma symbolism.
One of the first of its kind to incorporate mirrors within the figure. Its surrounding environment is absorbed and reflected and shows the parallel in how our spiritual well being is interconnected with the world we share.
Using a traditional mirror making technique, the interior of this freeform glass sculpture is lined with silver. Fuchsia is the key color, and its essential ingredient is gold.
Set your next intention and Daruma’s presence and watchful eye will guide you to seeing your vision come to light.
The first of the Namidaruma series debuted at The Big Softie art show at Soft Times Gallery for their final exhibition.
This piece has also recently been showcased at ‘Intersecting Visions’ at Upper Market Gallery.
