The Dangerous Not Dainty Series was created during the end of my second residency at the Worcester Center for Crafts in 2019. The work combines cast glass and blown glass techniques. The seemingly functional vessels also have a precarious nature to them. Interacting with these objects force people to dedicate their full attention to the piece. The Venus-like female figures are also presented as the handle of each designed object. A familiar and ergonomic shape that can both bring comfort and spark a larger question. The #MeToo movement had peaked with little to no progress in niche communities such as the glass art world or the ceramics world. These vessels and figures don’t have a voice and can’t consent to an interaction but they have their own way of demanding respect.
